Donald Trump has continuously denied that he supported the invasion of Iraq in 2003 — and Hillary Clinton wants everyone to know that’s not the case. So she begged voters to Google ‘Donald Trump Iraq’ for fact-checking…and they listened.
Google saw a surge in searches of the term “Donald Trump Iraq” during the third and final presidential debate…and it’s all because of Hillary Clinton. “Once again, Donald is implying he didn’t support the invasion of Iraq,” the Democratic nominee said. “Google it. You’ll see dozens of sources verifying that he supported the invasion of Iraq, and you can hear the audio of him saying it.”
The audio Hillary is referring to is from a 2002 interview Trump did with Howard Stern, six months before the Iraq invasion. When the radio show host asked Donald if he was in favor of the Iraq war, he responded, “Yeah, I guess so. I wish the first time it was done correctly.”
Still, during the Oct. 19 debate, Donald continued to deny ever saying this. “I opposed going in,” he said. “And I did oppose it, despite the media saying no, yes, no. I opposed going in.”
He pointed out a Fox News interview he did in 2003, a few months before the start of the war. “I said in an interview with Neil Cavuto that perhaps we shouldn’t be doing it yet and that the economy, these were quotes, that the economy, this was on live television, the economy is a far bigger problem as far as the president is concerned,” he explained.
During that interview, he did indeed say that the economy is a “much bigger problem,” but he also never flat-out opposed the invasion, either. “Well he has either got to do something or not do something,” he said, of the president, at the time, later adding, “We have to — you know, it’s sort of like, either do it or don’t do it.” Hmm….
HollywoodLifers, did you Google ‘Donald Trump Iraq’ during the debate? Were you surprised at what you found?
