Three arrests have been made in connection to the October 16 shooting death of Trinity Gay, the 15-year-old daughter of Olympian Tyson Gay. A father-son duo are suspects in the fatal shooting: Chazerae Taylor, 38, and his son, D’Markeo Taylor, 19. The men were allegedly engaged in a shootout with D’Vonta Middlebrooks, 21, in the parking lot of a Lexington, Kentucky restaurant. D’Vonta has also been arrested in connection to the shooting, according to the Lexington police.
All three men have been charged with Wanton Endangerment. D’Vonta has also been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. “According to his arrest citation, investigators determined that Middlebrooks was in the parking lot and fired multiple shots at the time of the incident,” the police statement read.
The shootout apparently occurred between two cars, one of which was recovered soon after the shooting: a Dodge Charger. The second car, a blue Ford passenger vehicle, was found around the same time the Taylors were arrested.
Trinity was shot in the neck by a stray bullet from the shootout around 4:00am on October 16. The high school student and Olympic track and field hopeful was simply hanging out with friends in the parking lot of Cook Out, a local BBQ restaurant, when the gunfight began. She was rushed to the hospital, and later died. The teenager was an incredible shock to her family and community; father Tyson, a three-time Olympic sprinter, said he had just seen her daughter when she came to visit him in Florida for a school break. Her mother, Shoshana Boyd, tearfully spoke out about her daughter’s shattered dreams of becoming a surgeon, and one day following in her dad’s footsteps at the Olympics.
HollywoodLifers, our thoughts are with Trinity’s loved ones during this difficult time.
