Miley Cyrus has everyone talking about what it means to be pansexual after she opened up about her sexuality in a new interview, but she’s not the only celeb to identify this way. See who else has broken sex and gender barriers by bringing awareness to pansexuality!
Many are still confused about what being pansexual even means. It’s defined in the dictionary as “not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender or gender identity.” And, yes, it’s different from being bisexual: Being bisexual means liking boys and girls, but being pansexual means just liking people in general.
Miley Cyrus, 23, first introduced many people to this sexual orientation back in 2015, when she discussed her sexuality in an interview with Elle UK. “I’m very open about it — I’m pansexual,” she admitted. At the time, she wasn’t actually in a relationship with anyone, although now, we’ve all seen that she’s super happy with her on-again fiancee, Liam Hemsworth, 26. However, she’s obviously dated girls, like Stella Maxwell, in the past, too, and even revealed to Variety that her first relationship ever was “with a chick.”
Transgender sensation, Jazz Jennings, 16, also identifies as pansexual. “There’s no limits,” she told Cosmo. “I’ll date anyone. It’s more that I love someone for their soul.” Angel Haze, a rapper, has made similar comments, telling BuzzFeed, “[It] means to just want love. To have a connection with anyone you can find it with.”
And while Kesha has never flat-out said she’s pansexual, she told Seventeen in 2013, “I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.” By the definition we now know, this definitely sounds like pansexuality — perhaps she wasn’t familiar with the term at the time.
