Viola Davis, 51, the strong force behind How To Get Away With Murder‘s, Annalise Keating, EXCLUSIVELY talked to HollywoodLife.com, Oct. 8 in her hometown of Central Falls, RI! She revealed what twists and turns we can expect during season 3 of the hit show!
Viola continues to make jaws drop and hearts stop with her mind blowing performance as the high profile defense attorney and law professor. But, her character’s undeniable on-screen chemistry with hunky heartthrob, Nate Lahey, [played by Bill Brown, 45] is what has most Murder fans riled up. So, we obviously had to ask what’s in store for the tumultuous lovebirds, especially now that Nate is living with Annalise! “I think with the relationship with Nate, you’ll see more of why we are together and what’s attracting us to each other.” FINALLY, more of a back story with these two!

We’re not sure about you guys, but, we’re a few episodes into season 3, and although Nate and Annalise share the same bed, AND he even makes her green breakfast smoothies, we really haven’t seen much PDA in the sheets…
We asked the Emmy-winning actress what’s going on there. In case you didn’t know, she threw her back out filming a steamy sex scene with Nate in the beginning of 2016. We joked if that was the reason the two haven’t been hot and heavy. She playfully replied, “probably,” after belting out a laugh, but then reassured us, “You’ll see some salacious things…” Phew!
You can’t have your weekly dose of HTGAWM without some Annalise and Nate drama! While she couldn’t give away too much, she did joke about the intimate scene that went wrong. “Well when we had that sex scene we had about 5 people behind that wall holding it up while he threw me up against the wall and we were just going at it. I threw out my back, my hip, everything!” LOL, we’re glad she’s ok!
We know that SOMEONE is dead at the end of the season, but of course, in true Shonda Rimes, 46, fashion, we’re left with a heart wrenching cliff hanger. We’re only on episode 3, but the Oscar nominated actress told us they’re about to film episode 9. And as for what we can expect for the rest of the season up until that point? — “I read episode 9, so get ready!”, she dished. “You know what, I always think it cannot get crazier, and then last year they had ‘what did we do’ and I had the gun and I told him [Wes] to ‘shoot me’ and then I was like, ‘Ok, they can get crazier.’ Then I read episode 9 and I said, ‘Ok I give up, it can get crazier.” OMG…

What sets this season of HTGAWM apart from the rest is the fact that “no one is safe,” she said, and we think that was established when they rolled out the white sheet. “There’s no more holds bar,” she revealed, adding, “Nothing is safe. Everything that you think you know, you do not know.” CHILLS.
When we played a bit of rapid fire with Viola, she had some interesting and empowering admissions about the show. We asked which character she would want to be if she wasn’t Annalise, and to our surprise, it was Bonnie Winterbottom. “She’s just as screwed up and complicated. She’s a ride or die friend,” Viola said.
But, no one could play Annalise like she can. Viola loves the bada** character because she “loves the mess.” The Doubt actress told us, “I love the chaos. I love that she’s not predictable. I love that you can’t put a handle on her. I love that she is not bound and restricted in any way. I hate when women are restricted. I hate when women have to be likable and maternal, especially women of color. I love the fact that it’s no holds bar, she’s not afraid to be unlikable, horrific, sensitive loving and just a mess.” Mic drop — And that’s why she’s conquered television and film stardom.
When she’s not strolling through Target with her adorable daughter Genesis, 6, and making waves in the industry, Viola is helping others by teaming up with Vaseline, a product she’s used since childhood. She’s the spokes person for the healing brand, and together their goal is to help heal the skin of nearly 5 million people by 2020 with The Healing Project.
We actually sat down with the actress in her hometown at a health clinic, where she told us about the aid to help heal people in poverty. “Vaseline has partnered with Direct Relief which is a humanitarian aid group that provides medical aid and medical supplies to people on the front line of disasters and to people who live in impoverished communities, and have limited access to medical care throughout the world. They’ve done this because “the number one problem people complain about in the front line of disasters and in impoverished communities are skin conditions.” Wow!
The Healing Project is even providing medical kits. “In the kits it’s everything from soap, to tooth brushes, tooth paste — Everything is in there,” she said. Viola’s even taken time to volunteer with Vaseline at the Eisner Clinic in LA. To learn more about the project to conquer the health problems of people in poverty, click here. You go, Viola!
