OMG, this video is so harrowing! A poor pooch’s owner got on a hotel elevator and neglected to make sure the pup was safely inside. As a result the doggie neared doom of being dragged upwards by the leash before a quick thinking hero was able to rescue the poor thing. The video is terrifying, but it has a happy ending.
This has to be the world’s worst pet owner, or at least the most incredibly absent-minded. A heavy-set man in a pair of sunglasses is seen on closed circuit TV getting into the elevator of a Roadway Inn in Greenville, SC, with a little zebra striped doggie carrier on the outside. He looks down the hall, gets inside and is still holding on to a leash as the doors close, leaving the carrier — and his leashed dog — still on the first floor as he headed up! So terrifying!
The poor little Yorkshire terrier is then seen being dragged to the closed elevator doors and is about to meet with a horrible death until hotel manager Ben Duke happened to be Johnny on the spot and saw what was going on. He leaped into action and grabbed the scared pooch just in a nick of time, snapping off the leash from its collar and saving the pup’s life! What a true hero!
“The doors closed, and I guess he didn’t realize that his dog had wandered off,” Ben told local TV station WYFF-4. As for his immediately jumping into action to save the pup’s life, “I just grabbed it, and struggled with it, then I guess adrenaline set in or something, and I snapped the leash right above my hand.” Even though the pup is seen struggling as he was being rescued — even scratching Ben on the face — he totally understood why the dog was in such distress. “I don’t blame him. It was pretty scary,” he said. Heck yeah it was pretty scary! The poor little guy can be seen running down the hallway terrified out of its mind after the close call with death!
