Ariel Winter looks better than ever on the cover of ‘Seventeen’ as the teen opened up about dealing with internet trolls and why she didn’t understand all the fuss surrounding her sexy graduation dress.
Not only is Ariel Winter, 18, comfortable and confident in her own skin, but she isn’t afraid to show it off — she has the best body confidence, and we totally love it! In the November issue of Seventeen, the Modern Family actress admitted that dealing with internet haters does take a toll on her, but she totally knows how to handle it. “It’s definitely hard being self-conscious and having the world be able to tell you how they feel about you. Before Twitter and Instagram, if you felt a certain way about a person you didn’t know, you couldn’t tell them. Now I wake up and I have tweets to me about how I’m a fat, ugly blah-blah. When I was younger, it took a lot more of a toll on me than it does now. Three or four years ago, I would have been devastated, like, Why do people feel this way about me? I’m just being me. My sister helped me understand that people will say those things regardless of how you look. I tell myself every day, “I look fabulous.””
We love Ariel for being so real about her body image, because it’s definitely something all gals out there can relate to — and she’s all about leading by example. “I definitely have pushed myself to deal with the good and the bad because I feel there are so many girls who need to hear positivity. I feel like as many of us women who can band together and discuss things in a positive way will be so beneficial. Losing one person in that discussion wouldn’t be helpful,” she said when asked why she won’t quit social media.
While Ariel has always been all about embracing her body, the internet erupted with comments after she rocked a cutout bodycon frock to her graduation party — and the star didn’t really get why it was such a big deal in the first place! “I looked great in it, I loved it, and that’s all that matters to me… There are so many other issues in the world that are more important than my graduation dress showing a little underboob,” she said, reflecting back on her dress.
