It has been three years since Donna and Tom graced humankind with Treat Yo’ Self Day — a day dedicated entirely to YOU! Spare no expense. Count no calorie. Leave no dogs un-pet. Treat. Yo’. Self. At HollywoodLife, one of our favorite ways to treat ourselves is by splurging on a few cocktails and we have rounded up some of the best, sweet, savory, Parks & Recreation-approved drinks for you on the best day of the year! Like to eat your alcohol instead of drinking it? It’s Treat Yo’ Self Day, so we gotchu.
Bourbon Butter Pecan Milkshake
1 ½ parts Maker’s Mark® Bourbon
1 ½ cups butter pecan ice cream, packed
½ cup whole milk
2 tablespoons toasted pecans
¼ vanilla bean, scraped, seeds only, or 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon Lyle’s™ Golden Syrup or maple syrup
Place all ingredients in a blender. Puree on the highest speed until smooth and creamy. Pour into a large pint glass or two 8-ounce glasses. Serve immediately.
Pumpkin Spice Negroni
1 oz Campari
1 oz Bulldog Gin
3/4 oz Frangelico
1/2 oz Pumpkin Puree Infused Syrup
Combine all ingredients and dry shake. Reshake with ice and strain into a small pumpkin (or coupe). Garnish with a light dusting of cinnamon and pumpkin seeds.
Ketel One Citroen® Mimosa
oz. Ketel One Citroen® Flavored Vodka
75 oz. fresh lemon juice
5 oz. simple syrup
5 oz. champagne
Combine KETEL ONE CITROEN® Flavored Vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup in a mixing glass. Shake with ice and strain into a chilled champagne flute or coupe. Top with champagne or sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon twist.
NEO Chilled Cocoa
1 ½ parts FACUNDO NEO
½ part dry vermouth
¼ part Giffard Banane du Brésil
¼ part Giffard Crème de Cacao white
Lemon peel for garnish
Dry banana chip for garnish
In a mixing glass, stir all the ingredients with plenty of ice. Strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with a dry banana chip and a lemon peel.
BACARDÍ Bat Magic
1.5 parts BACARDÍ Black
0.5 part Fresh Lime Juice
0.5 part Simple Syrup
2 Dashes Orange Bitters
Combine BACARDÍ Black, lime juice, simple syrup and bitters in a shaker filled with ice, shake, strain into an ice filled pint glass, then fill with dark beer. Garnish with an Orange Slice.
Fever-Tree’s Lemon Berry Fever
1 measure (50ml) of your favourite vodka
Fresh ice – at least four big cubes. Clear cubes from spring water if possible
Dash of Blackcurrant Liqueur
Lemon – a curl of the rind or a lemon wedge
Fill a high ball glass with ice, then our over 1 part vodka followed by a dash of the black currant liqueur. Add in 200ml of Fever-Tree Sicilian Lemonade and garnish with a curl of lemon rind or a wedge of lemon.
SONS OF ESSEX BoneYard Cocktail
2 oz. Creyente joven Mezcal
2 oz. Guava juice
1 oz. Lemon juice
0.5 oz. Brown sugar syrup
Add All ingredients into a shaker and shake. Rim a rocks glass with a spicy salt rim. (My homemade blend includes smoked Spanish Paprika, Cayenne pepper, Sea Salt and others) Strain over fresh ice. Created by Topher Mikels.
The Lindeman’s Cinnamon Bun Cocktail
1 oz Fireball
1 oz Vanilla vodka
1 oz spiced rum
.5 oz coconut rum
1 oz simple syrup
Shake with ice and pour into coupe glass. Don’t want to make it yourself, because you’re treating yourself? The cocktail is available at The Lindeman Restaurant in NYC: 508 W. 42nd St.
Apple Cinnamon Mule Cupcake
¼ cup (57g) butter, unsalted and softened
¾ cup (150g) light brown sugar
1 cup (250g) applesauce, unsweetened
1 cup + 1 tbsp (140g) flour, AP
1 tsp baking soda
⅜ tsp salt
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp dried ground ginger
½ cup apple sauce, unsweetened*
¼ cup Ketel One Vodka
133 g butter, unsalted
1 box confectioners’ sugar
2 tbsp Ketel One Vodka
3 tbsp Ginger juice
¼ tsp ground ginger
½ tsp cinnamon
Garnish with apple chips
To Make the Cake:
Preheat oven to 325 and line cupcake tin with liners. Measure flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger into a container. Cream together butter and brown sugar in the bowl of a standing mixer. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Add applesauce and beat until combined. Add flour mixture and beat until combined. Fill liners ⅔ full and bake for 10 minutes. Once finished baking, cool on a cooling rack.
To Make the Filling:
Pour applesauce into a bowl. Add vodka 1 tbsp at a time, mixing thoroughly between each addition. Once all of the vodka is mixed in, transfer applesauce/vodka mixture to a squeeze bottle.
To Make the Frosting:
Cream butter in the bowl of a standing mixer. Add confectioners’ sugar and mix thoroughly. Slowly stream in Ketel One vodka and ginger juice and beat thoroughly. Add ground ginger and cinnamon and best until completely mixed. Transfer to a piping bag.
Once cupcakes have completely cooled, core each cupcake with a small piping tip or the tip of a small knife. Fill the cavity of each cupcake with the applesauce/Ketel One mixture. Frost to your liking. Garnish with apple chip.
