Billy Bush isn’t going to go quietly! As rumors swirl that the ‘Today’ host will be terminated from his job over the creepy video where he and Donald Trump objectify women, a new report claims that he’s considering taking legal action against NBC! Here’s the scoop.
Billy Bush, 44, has been removed from The Today Show indefinitely and replaced by Carson Daly, 43, but many reports claim he will soon be let go officially. However, fans shouldn’t expect Billy to leave without a fight. PageSix reports that Billy believes someone from NBC leaked the now-infamous Donald Trump tape themselves, and that while they’re saying he violated a “morality clause,” many people have known about the tape since the Olympics in Aug..
The tape in question, of course, is the one revealed by the Washington Post on Oct. 7 in which Billy engages in some creepy banter with Donald about women including his Access Hollywood co-host Nancy O’Dell, and then proceeds to pressure Arianne Zucker to give him and Donald hugs. So gross. Clearly Billy was proud of the tape because he reportedly bragged about it during the Olympics, and faced no repercussions from execs. Then, two months later right before the second presidential debate, the clip mysteriously hit the airwaves.
“He told people at NBC about this tape,” a source tells PageSix. “What if there was a transcript of the tape, and high-level discussions about when to release it? Which executives were involved, and why did they decide to suppress the tape until October, when they could have aired it in August? Was it an oversight or a strategic decision by NBC to affect the race?” Billy’s people argue that it Billy was upfront, but it wasn’t his call to air it or not. “Billy was far from the only person at NBC who was talking about the contents of this tape. On-air talent does not make the decision when to air stories like this.”
