‘America’s Hug’ is back! Unintentional second presidential debate star Ken Bone made a fun appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Keep reading for what the the infamous undecided voter had to say about he and his red sweater becoming an overnight national sensation!
Aww! St. Louis undecided voter, coal plant operator and Twitter hero Ken Bone, 34, made a guest appearance with Jimmy Kimmel, 48, to talk about his overnight fame. He absolutely stole the show at the second presidential debate in his classy red sweater and disposable camera, a bright and shining moment of hugable warmth in an otherwise frosty and hate-filled evening.
The Granite City, Il resident joined Jimmy via satellite from the Wall of America, and of course he was wearing his now infamous red knit sweater and crisp white shirt underneath. That outfit turned out to be a super last minute wardrobe choice after he had a nice olive suit picked out and was wearing it as he was walked out the door. Unfortunately while heading to his car, he ripped the seat of his pants! Ken told Jimmy that in the two years since his grandpa gave him the suit and that, “I’ve got somewhat more fat since then, destroyed my olive suit and did emergency clothing repair,” which lead to him putting on the red cable knit sweater that American fell in love with.
Ken is totally soaking in the fame, as Jimmy asked him if he had any idea how adorable he is and he answered with, “That’s a definitive yes.” Gotta love that confidence! He didn’t find out that he became such a huge social media sensation until after the event, as he explained that, “We weren’t allowed to have our phones so when I turned my phone back on had a few thousand missed messages, and I thought ‘today was going to be a long day.'” HAH! He also knows his moniker helped make him a star, saying of “Ken Bone” that, “It’s a fantastic name.”

As for whether or not the debate helped him choose between Donald Trump, 70, or Hillary Clinton, 64, Ken said that, “I’m more undecided than I was before.” He added that, “This is an unusual political cycle. I try to base most of my decisions on positive things. Donald Trump is in line with my economic interests, but I’d hate for anyone’s rights to be taken back. We fought so hard to get marriage equality and it would be unconscionable for me to see that taken away by a Supreme Court justice appointed by Trump.” Awww, he’s adorable and good hearted!
