Set, HIKE! Colin Kaepernick, the controversial NFL quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, will be making his first start of the season on Oct. 16th against the Buffalo Bills. Keep reading for the latest on this huge football news.
San Francisco’s head coach Chip Kelly announced, on Oct.11th, that Colin Kaepernick, 28, who hasn’t started in an NFL football game since Nov.1 of 2015, will be taking the snaps behind center as the starting quarterback for the 49ers during their week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills on Oct 16th. The 49ers made the announcement on their Twitter simply stating, “Chip Kelly: “@Kaepernick7 will start this week.” #SFvsBUF.”

This decision comes on the heels of a difficult 1-4 start of the 49ers 2016 season under quarterback Blaine Gabbert who will be demoted to the bench. After getting a win in their first game of the season against the Los Angeles Rams, the 49ers have yet to earn another victory and fans have been calling for a change at the quarterback position. In week 5 the 49ers lost at home, with Blaine throwing the ball, to the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 33-21.
Colin will start for the first time in almost a year during a controversial season for the young star. Colin has been protesting against the state of America by taking a knee at NFL games during the National Anthem. His actions have been polarizing and while some have supported his demonstrations, many have slammed the young football player. Colin has already brought the 49ers to the Super Bowl once, during the 2012 season, but San Francisco lost the big game to the Baltimore Ravens.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think about Colin getting to start again in the NFL? Will you be rooting for him to succeed or do you think he is not a fit leader for a professional football team?
