Whoa. Wild new information about how a group of thieves managed to break into Kim Kardashian’s Paris apartment and still over $4 million worth of jewelry has been revealed — including that they planned a decoy getaway car to distract police.
The masterminds behind the attack on Kim Kardashian, 35, were prepared to be chased by police if anything went wrong. Shocking new details about the October 2 robbery have been revealed, including that the robbers set up a “decoy” to throw off police from chasing them once they left the scene, reports Us Weekly.
“They wanted us to believe that they were amateurs, but all the real clues point to them being extremely sophisticated professionals,” a police source shared with the outlet. The ruse involved one of the men pretending to fall off of his bicycle, while another faked dropping a piece of jewelry on their way to escaping. Interestingly enough, it was revealed on October 10 that they really did drop a piece of jewelry, though it’s unclear if it was an intentional move or not.
The police official added, “There is no way a gang like this would drop stuff and fall off bicycles — all that was done for any cameras that might be in the area. It is far more likely that they played around on bikes for a few minutes after stealing the jewels, and when they still had their masks on, before they all got into a van and disappeared.” Wow.
Unfortunately for the robbers — and more importantly, the police — the Hôtel de Pourtalès does not have any security cameras on the premises. The police source explained that this is because of all the “high profile” people who stay there, who do not want to risk being caught on camera doing something they wouldn’t want anyone else seeing.
