WWE’s ‘No Mercy’ just proved how cutthroat these superstars could be! AJ Styles defended his World Title against John Cena AND Dean Ambrose on Oct. 9, while Dolph Ziggler’s career was on the line in his match with The Miz! Click to find out the results and what went down!
The Golden 1 Center in scenic Sacramento, California saw some incredible (and brutal) action between the Superstars of the WWE’s SmackDown brand. To celebrate the first No Mercy since 2008, the card was stacked with some amazing matches!
In fact, the event started off with the biggest title defense of the night! AJ Styles, 39, had his hands full in the main event, as his WWE World Title was up for grabs in a Triple Threat. Not only was he facing the man he beat at SummerSlam, John Cena, 39, but he also had to deal with the former champ, Dean Ambrose, 30!
After a hard-hitting match that saw these three men take each other to the limit, it almost seemed like John was about to tie Ric Flair’s, 67, number for most World Heavyweight championships one. After delivering a Super Attitude Adjustment to Dean, Cena was three-seconds away. However, after AJ delivered a devastating chair shot to Cena’s back, he was able to score the win and keep his title.
AJ wasn’t the only defending champion at No Mercy. The Miz, 35, agreed to give Dolph Ziggler, 36, one last shot at the Intercontinental Championship – but under one condition. If Dolph lost this match, he would retire from the WWE. Maryse, 33, had helped her husband cheat Dolph out of the title before, and many wondered if she’d do it again. Despite her efforts, she couldn’t stop Ziggler from driving his foot into Miz’s face with a super kick! 1-2-3 – NEW CHAMPION!

The SmackDown Tag Team Championship was also up for grabs as Heath Slater, 33, and Rhyno, 41, defended against the villainous duo, The Usos. However, Rhyno’s Gore was able to keep the belts around the waists of the champs. Becky Lynch, 29, was supposed to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss, 25, but the match was pulled due to Becky having an undisclosed health issue, per 411 Wrestling.
Nikki Bella, 32 — who’s about to become an aunt, since his sister, Brie Bella, 32, and Daniel Bryan, 35, are expecting – faced Carmella, 28, at No Mercy in a grudge match. These two were supposed to face on SmackDown, but Carmella attacked Nikki before she got to the ring. At No Mercy, Nikki got revenge after delivering the Rack Attack 2.0. Speaking of revenge, Bray Wyatt, 29, got some on Randy Orton, 36, defeating him with help from a returning Luke Harper, 36. Something tells us that this feud isn’t over.
