Billy Bush is still ‘hoping’ to issue a heartfelt apology to Nancy O’Dell for having a degrading conversation with Donald Trump about her and other women in 2005. We’ve got the EXCLUSIVE details as to why he wants to ask forgiveness ‘live on the Today Show.’
Billy Bush, 44, was extremely apologetic just hours after the leaked conversation between himself and Donald Trump, 70, was released on Oct. 7. The two were talking on hot microphones when the Republican nominee made lewd remarks about Billy’s then co-host Nancy O’Dell in 2005. It’s obvious Billy feels horrible about the ordeal and he’s willing to go the extra mile to make things right.
“Billy wanted his public apology to speak for him, to speak to the people who are bashing him and speak to everyone he hurt,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He hopes to speak to Nancy at some point but has yet to reach out personally. “
So, where would he prefer to have this conversation? Our source explained, “He would like to actually talk to her live on the Today Show if she was up for it.” At the time of the tape, Billy was working at Access Hollywood, when the controversial presidential candidate made misogynistic comments toward Nancy.
Even though Billy can be heard laughing, he did issue an apology the very same day the tape was leaked, admitting that he was ashamed for not sticking up for his co-host.“It’s no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along,” he told our sister site Variety. “I’m very sorry.”
In the controversial tape, Donald talks about how his fame has given him the clearance to grope women. On top of that, he also talks in detail about trying to get with Nancy, a “married woman,” who keeps denying his sexual advances. Since its release, the Republican candidate made a statement saying the whole ordeal was merely a “distraction” to more important issues. Still, many stars and politicians have come forward to slam his comments. Hillary and Donald will face off in the second presidential debate on Oct. 9.
