Too little too late? Even though Billy Bush totally apologized for his disgusting conversation with Donald Trump about women, his ‘Today’ show job is reportedly on the rocks. What’s worse, even his show coworkers all want him gone!
Things are NOT looking good for Billy Bush, 44. The Today show co-host came under fire on Oct. 7, when a lewd tape recording of him and Donald Trump, 70, leaked, in which the two joked about women and made appalling remarks. At the time, Billy was working at Access Hollywood, and when the controversial presidential candidate made misogynistic comments toward his then-cohost Nancy O’Dell, Billy laughed it up. According to PEOPLE, Billy’s failure to stick up for his co-worker is not boding well for his current peers at Today. “This was personal,” a source close to the show told the publication. “He was turning on his co-workers and friends to suck up to Donald. So it’s like, ‘what does he say about me when I’m not in the room? I don’t know what the decision will be, but I know this will have to be addressed by the producers and NBC. It has to be, or else they’ll have a mutiny on their hands.”
Wow. It doesn’t sound like those around him on the show will forgive him anytime soon. Still, Billy did issue an apology yesterday, admitting that he was embarrassed and ashamed. “It’s no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along,” he said in a statement to our sister site Variety. “I’m very sorry.”
For now, the jury is out on Billy’s future at Today. We’ve reached out to the show, and to Billy’s rep, for comment.
