So, how do you say ‘ouch’ in Portuguese? Better ask Neymar, because the Brazilian soccer star was left covered in his own blood after taking an elbow to the face during a World Cup qualifier! The results weren’t pretty. Click to watch.
While soccer fans would call Brazil’s 5-0 victory over Bolivia on Oct. 6 a “bloodbath,” they probably don’t mean it literally. Yet, Neymar’s face was a crimson mask by the end of the match. During a fevered moment in the game, the 24-year-old soccer star from Brazil took an elbow the face, courtesy of Bolivia’s Yasmani Duk, 28. If anyone though Neymar was faking it, the blood gushing from his face proved he was seriously hurt!
After being open up, Neymar got some immediate medical attention, according to Dirty Tackle. He was subbed out for Willian, 28, at the 69th minute and surprisingly, Yasmani wasn’t punished for the strike! Unbelievable.
While this contact is being chalked up as an accident, per ESPN FC, it’s not like this aggression came out of the blue. During the game, Neymar got into a verbal spat with one of the Bolivians, prompting a shoving match. Plus, when Neymar was leading an attack on the Bolivian goal, one of the defenders straight up shoulder blocked Neymar, sending him crashing to the ground!
Neymar might be pleased that he scored his 300th goal of his career and this 5-0 domination has brought Brazil even closer to the Russia 2018 World Cup. However, it’s not all good news. Neymar, yet again, received a yellow card during the game with Bolivia.
Uh-oh. This rules him out of the final qualifier of October, as Brazil will take on Venezuela on the 11th. Though, with Venezuela currently sitting at the bottom of the table, Brazil is expected to blast past them. Seems Neymar (and the rest of the Brazilian squad) will be spared a second headache.
What did you think about Neymar’s face getting cracked open during this game, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Yasmani should have been punished for it?
