Jerry Rice apologized Oct. 6 for creating a social media whirlwind with his ‘All Lives Matter’ tweet. Back in August 2016 he stirred up controversy when he went against Colin Kaepernick’s protests on the National Anthem, then sided with him shortly after. Now, his apology may have caused a bigger argument! See the shocking tweet!
Jerry Rice, 53, apparently can’t seem to find the right things to say. The former San Francisco 49ers star may have just sparked another Twitter firestorm, while trying to put out the first. He tweeted a long-awaited apology, for some, when he claimed he “didn’t know” about the Black Lives Matter movement.
In case you didn’t know, back in August 2016, he tweeted “All lives matter. So much going on in this world today. Can we all just get along! Colin [Kaepernick], I respect your stance but don’t disrespect the Flag.” The tweet ignited a media frenzy, and it has since been deleted. His statement caused fans to believe he was going against Colin.
Then, the Hall Of Fame wide receiver tweeted his support for the 28-year-old 49ers QB just weeks later, on September 20. “I support @Kaepernick7 for bringing awareness for injustice !!!! As Americans we all have rights! Im hoping we all come together#solution.”

Jerry’s apology comes after his tweets caused major controversy because fans and Twitter users thought he was jumping the fence on where he stands with the movement, as well as Colin. He claims in his apology that he apparently did not know about Black Lives Matter, but the statement, “All Lives Matter” stems from the movement. So, there has been a lot of confusion.
Since his apology September 20, there have been mixed reviews on Twitter. Some are sarcastically attacking him for “taking the time” to educate himself on Black Lives Matter, while others are hitting him with questions like, “so all lives don’t matter?”
@JerryRice so all lives don't matter? Is that what I tell my kids? Stand up, be a man, you keep flip flopping

Some fans have forgiven him, but they are still disappointed.
@JerryRice really ignorant mistake boss, I love you man but a lot of y'all just responded and hurt the movement… But you're forgiven.
