SO awkward! Out of all the places to dine in New York City, Rosie O’Donnell and Ivanka Trump were at the same spot at the SAME time just days after Ivanka’s dad, Donald Trump, trashed Rosie on live television! So…what happened?
You’ll be happy to know that both Rosie, 54, and Ivanka, 34, played it very classy when they ran into each other at NYC’s Nobu restaurant on Oct. 5. Although Donald Trump, 70, made some pretty nasty remarks about the actress during the presidential debate Sept. 26, the two ladies apparently used civil language and actually talked about things they had in common!
Following their impromptu meet up, Rosie hopped on Twitter to explain what happened between her and Trump’s eldest daughter. “@IvankaTrump in a city of 8 million – we meet face 2 face,” she tweeted late at night. “I thank u 4 listening – mother 2 mother – on this new years week – my best 2 u.”
Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves though; this certainly wasn’t an endorsement for Trump. However, it’s good to hear that the pair’s awkward run-in didn’t result in a verbal spat or physical altercation, especially since Trump has said some pretty hurtful things about Rosie in the past couple of years. His most recent statement came during the first presidential debate, after Hillary Clinton, 69, brought up her opponents habit of using sexist words like “pigs, slobs and dogs,” to describe women. But Trump didn’t seem too remorseful; in fact, he said Rosie, in particular, deserved every word used against her.
“Some of it I said to somebody who has been very vicious to me, Rosie O’Donnell,” Trump said. “I said very tough things to her, and I think everybody would agree she deserves it. And nobody feels sorry for her.” Rosie quickly shot back at Trump by calling him an “orange anus.” Yikes!
So although Rosie and Ivanka are able to make small talk, the former talk-show host and the presidential candidate have never really seen eye to eye…and we don’t really see that changing. Neither Ivanka nor her father have commented on the recent event, although Trump’s campaign has confirmed the meet up, according to CNN. But no Tweet from Trump is usually a good thing, right!?
HollywoodLifers, do you think Rosie and Trump will end their feud because of Ivanka?
