It’s not only about the pitching when you play for the National League. So, what happens when it’s Ginny Baker’s turn to bat against a huge rival on and off the field?
Let’s start with the past: Ginny had a rule not to date players, but when she played in Texas, she met Trevor, who played for another team and convinced her that he was looking to quit ball. The began inching into a public relationship, while he was still playing and then he told her he got called up to the majors — and was being scouted all along. Needless to say, that just reiterated her rule: no dating ball players. Ever since then, players mocked her, joking that one night with her would land them in the majors. (Maybe she’ll date Drake next though, he does send her a bottle of bubbly, to all of the locker rooms’ entertainment.)
In present time, it was time for Ginny to step up to the plate against the Cardinals; the last time they played them, their pitcher Theo Falcone threw a ball that hit Tommy’s hand, putting him on the IR. And now, he was moved off that list.
When it was time to pitch, Baker wasn’t afraid — she hit Falcone with the pitch, knowing that she was escalating a beanball war. However, they brought in the strongest pitcher for her turn; while everyone wanted to pull her, she was determined to hit, and and Tommy backed her. When she went up though, she was walked. They were afraid to hit her, which prompted her to scream at the pitch, and get in the catcher’s face — the catcher was Trevor. While we expected Blip and Lawson to run out and help her, it was actually Tommy who came out and attacked Trevor, starting a huge brawl.
Drama Behind The Scenes
Speaking of brawls… Al knew he was getting the ax, so he fought an umpire before the game to get thrown out, then spent the game having dinner with Maxine Armstrong with hopes to save his job. He told her if he was fired, Ginny would be blamed — but if she’d save him, he promised to retire at the end of the season. Apparently it worked, and she threatened to fire Frank instead.
While Lawson and Amelia’s romance continued — and yes, included a bed scene, it was how Ginny‘s ex could affect her present that mattered. After the game, Trevor revealed to Ginny that his found had been hacked, and all the photos of them “on the road” were out there in the world. And Amelia thought her batting was a PR disaster.
