OMG there’s a new celeb jumping on the ‘cupping’ movement! Lea Michele recently debuted her cupping marks in a gnarly topless photo, and the circular bruises look pretty painful! See the crazy pic here.
Lea Michele, 30, took to Snapchat to flaunt her fresh cupping marks on Oct. 6. The Scream Queens star stripped down to nothing and turned her back to the camera, revealing an array of red, circular marks. “So today I did cupping for the first time, and now I have these” she said on Snapchat.
Ouch! Does it hurt? For those who may be looking at Lea’s brand new bruises with a weird expression, don’t worry! Cupping is the new therapy that’s taking over Hollywood’s health routines, and it’s actually supposed to help with pain. The process of cupping involves doctors taking a suction cup-like tool and applying pressure to a patient’s body to relieve pain or simply to relax the muscles. Usually the amount of time the suction object stay on the skin depends on how much pain the person is in, which is probably why the coloration of the bruises on Lea’s back varies.
While the former Glee actress is just getting started, the superstar is following behind some pretty big names who have also tried the treatment. Olympic champion Michael Phelps, 31, famously caused a bit of a discussion surrounding the treatment after photos of his red and purple bruises went viral during the Olympics. But he isn’t the only one! Actors just like Lea use it as a relaxation tool. Kim Kardashian, 35, Lena Dunham, 30, Jennifer Aniston, 47, and Victoria Beckham, 42, have all given it a shot. SO cool!
It’s a little unclear why Lea decided to give the new technique a try, but it may have something to do with her jam-packed schedule. The second season of Scream Queens is already underway, and this season is full of twists and turns that you wouldn’t even believe. We wouldn’t rule out bubble baths for our favorite, relaxing pass time. But cupping does seem to have its perks as well.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Lea’s Michele’s fresh bruises? Would you try this sort of treatment?
