The plot thickens! JonBenet Ramsey’s brother, Burke, is now suing lead investigator, Dr. Werner Spitz, for $150 million. The lawsuit follows an interview the forensic scientist gave, in which he ‘defames’ Burke’s character. So, what did he say?
Spoiler alert! At the end of the four-hour docuseries, The Case Of: JonBenet Ramsey, investigators claimed older brother Burke Ramsey was the one who killed his sister (by accident!) Now, it appears that Burke is out for revenge, as he’s filed a lawsuit for defamation against Dr. Werner Spitz for $150 million. In an interview with CBS Detroit, Dr. Spitz makes the allegation that Burke “bludgeoned” his sister death. He made this accusation without ever “examining JonBenét’s body, without viewing the crime scene, and without consulting with the pathologist who performed the autopsy on JonBenét,” according to the court papers.
Burke has consistently been one of the key suspects in JonBenet‘s murder since the tragic incident occurred in 1996. Her parents, Patsy and John, were also at the top of the FBI’s list. The Case Of: JonBenet Ramsey revisited the UNSOLVED murder mystery 20 years later, with a mission to find her killer once and for all. Anyone who’s seen the show will tell you that the ending wasn’t as cut and dry as pointing the finger at one person. Investigators believe Burke killed her, but that it was a total accident. He was only nine, after all.
They say he hit her over the head with a flashlight after she stole a piece of pineapple off his plate. That’s when JonBenet’s parents took over and did their best to make the investigation unsolvable. Burke’s attorney, Lin Wood, announced last month that he was preparing to sue, and it looks like they followed through with their actions. “Now, from age 29 until he takes his last breath, he will be haunted by these accusations,” said Lin. Surely Dr. Spitz didn’t expect not to step on any toes when he joined the series.
HollywoodLifers, what do YOU think about the accusations against Burke? Do you think he did it?
