Angelina Jolie whisked her kids away to Malibu before she filed for divorce from Brad Pitt last month — but the six children are already used to living their lives untraditionally and away from others their age. Take a peek into their unique childhoods right here.
Although they had differing parenting styles, which ultimately played a part in their split, Brad Pitt, 52, and Angelina, 41, did agree on a few things when it came to the unconventional ways they raised their six children. For instance, Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox were home-schooled, and they were very in-tune with the culture and histories of the countries they grew up in.
“From the start, Brad and Angie agreed that traveling the world and getting exposed to different cultures are amazing learning tools,” a source tells People. “It might not be the most traditional, but Brad and Angie don’t really do anything in a traditional way.” The kids were even blessed enough to have a skate park built in their backyard! It was certainly a different and much more isolated, private upbringing from a majority of other children their ages.
Unfortunately, their agreement on these aspects of child raising wasn’t enough to keep the couple together. Angelina filed for divorce from her husband of two years on Sept. 19, after he allegedly got physically and verbally abusive with the kids, specifically 15-year-old, Maddox, on a private plane five days earlier.
Of course, the actor has totally denied the claims of abuse, and is fully complying with the Department of Child & Family Services’ investigation in hopes that his ex won’t get the full physical custody she asked for in her court documents. For now, he is allowed supervised visitation with the children.
HollywoodLifers, are you surprised by the lives Angie and Brad’s kids are living? Do you think they need to be less isolated?
