Yikes! Lindsay Lohan came away a very lucky girl when doctors were able to reattach her ring finger after it was nearly severed in a grisly boating accident. HollywoodLife.com spoke to a top plastic surgeon who tells us if her digit will ever be the same again!
“If Lindsay Lohan’s finger was actually severed, the doctor would have to reattach the ligaments and the blood vessels, and this would require hospitalization and observation for 48 hours. However, in Lindsay‘s case she most likely ripped the pad off the bottom of her finger which is all soft tissue and can be easily stitched back together,” Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon Dr. McCoy Moretz, M.D. tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. Whew! What a relief for Lindz.
“She will most likely need to be on antibiotics for 7-10 days to prevent infection because of the bacteria that may have been present on the anchor. She may also need a Tetanus shot,” he adds. As for her recovery, “After her finger heals, which could take up to six weeks, Lindsay may need physical therapy to strengthen her injured finger’s grip and range of motion.” She’s definitely going to want to get that particular finger back in shape in case she ends up getting re-engaged to her ex Egor Tarabasov, 23, so she could haul around that giant emerald ring her gave her on that poor banged up finger.
Lindsay, 30, originally claimed on Snapchat that “I almost lost my finger from the anchor. Well, I lost half my finger, thanks goodness we found the piece of my finger. I just had surgery to fix it…it hurts so bad,” showing off a great big bandage covered by gauze tape. While that sounded terrifying and grisly, she later calmed her fans down by letting them know that, “To make this very clear. The bottom part of my finger was ripped off. It was not ‘chopped’ or ‘severed’ off.” She even joked that she’s still able to do “one-handed selfies” since her left hand is out of commission.
HollywoodLifers, send your well wishes to Lindsay in the comments.
