What a finish! With the best golfers in the world, everyone expected the 2016 Ryder Cup to be epic but when USA clinched the win, there was nothing left to do but celebrate! What a match!
The cheer from the crowds gathered at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in scenic Chaska, Minnesota was so loud that they probably heard it all the way over in England. At the conclusion of the three-day event on Oct. 2, it was Team USA who stood victorious!
Of course, the day wasn’t short of its drama with Will McIlory actually getting a fan removed after he continued to yell about his sex life — but still, it was quite a day.
The United States has won the #RyderCup for the first time in almost 3,000 days.

The Americans were thirsty for a win, since the European team had won the Ryder Cup three consecutive times before the 2016 cup. With vice coach Tiger Woods, 40, watching, the rookies felt the extra pressure to deliver. “If I had someone of that stature for my first game,” Colin Montgomerie, 53, said ahead of the game, per CBS Sports. “[Like] if Jack Nickalus had been standing there on the first tee or Arnold Palmer – my god, you would feel it. And Tiger will be used as much as possible to be that way.”
Speaking of “the King,” Arnold Palmer may have passed away prior to the Ryder Cup, but his presence was still felt at the event. The Ryder Cup paid tribute to Arnold by having his golf bag from the 1975 Ryder Cup awaiting golfers on the first tee, according to For The Win. Fans also celebrated “The King” as well, chanting Arnold’s name at the start of the action.
After this, it’s Europe’s turn to host the Ryder Cup. In 2018 (as this event happens every two years) the Americans will pack their bags and check their passports as they fly over to Le Golf National, Albatros Course in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France. After witnessing the amazing action of this year’s extravaganza, 2018 can’t come soon enough.
