Season 42 of ‘Saturday Night Live’ begins on October 1! To remind you how insanely funny this show is, and what to look forward to this upcoming season, click through to watch the best sketches of 2016 so far!
1. Drake’s Beef
Forget Meek Mill. Drake‘s real beef is with the cast of Saturday Night Live. For some reason, everyone at SNL has to slight Drake, whether it’s taking away his water bottle when he still has a sip left, or getting his hat moved. Not okay, guys!
2. Near-Death Experience
Kate McKinnon brought back her hilarious alien abductee character, who’s experienced yet another trauma. The weirdo and two other women had near-death experiences, but while theirs involved God’s loving embrace and warm light, she got stuck with some second-rate angel who screwed everything up. Obviously, everyone broke during this sketch.
3. Mafia Meeting
Two words: SPACE PANTS! Peter Dinklage is the weirdest club entertainment ever, but you know what? It’s pretty catchy? Watch him and Gwen Stefani sing about their intergalactic pants (and shorts) and distract some mafia members from doing business.
4. Bern Your Enthusiasm
When you have Larry David hosting, you obviously have to have him do his spot-on Bernie Sanders impression! What better way to channel him than with a Curb Your Enthusiasm spoof, that shows Bernie trying his damnedest to get those last crucial voters. It’s uncanny!
5. Kids’ Choice Awards
This is just so goofy, it works. Two hosts are trying their hardest to cover the Kids’ Choice Awards backstage, and every time they get the cue to cut away, it says there’s still time left until the show starts. Ariana Grande keeps popping up, too, as a rival TV host.
6. Farewell Mr. Bunting
This is one of the weirdest sketches SNL has put out in a long time, and we mean that in a good way. Remember how powerful the “Oh captain, my captain” scene was in Dead Poets Society? Yeah, Fred Armisen and Pete Davidson completely ruin it forever. Note: this is pretty graphic, but hilarious.
7. Voters For Trump Ad
It starts out as your usual campaign, but after letting Donald Trump (awkwardly) host at the beginning of season 41, the cast digs into him hard! As you quickly realize, everyone in this voter ad is an extreme white supremacist, and they’re far too happy to tell you to get out there and vote for Trump!
8. Bland Man
This Bachelor spoof pairs “one very bland man” with “25 long-haired women.” Every woman on the show gets paraded out in different wigs, and different evening gowns, but Bland Man ends the whole thing when one of them is literally just the real Selena Gomez. Done!
9. Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base
Kylo Ren from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is curious to know if the Stormtroopers and workers on his Starkiller Base actually like him. So he does an episode of Undercover Boss as “Matt,” just a typical guy. Too bad he can’t control his powers.
10. Naked & Afraid: Celebrity Edition
Leslie Jones and Peter Dinklage sign up for the celebrity version of Naked & Afraid, and it’s as hilarious as you’d think. Peter tries to take it seriously, but Leslie is ruining everything. Literally the only thing she brings with her is hot sauce. And she tries to eat Peter!
