Your new favorite love story has arrived in ‘The Space Between Us.’ Britt Robertson and Asa Butterfield play star-crossed lovers who are literally separated by the stars. Grab your tissues now. You’re going to cry your eyes out for this one. Watch the new trailer now!
The Space Between Us may seem like your average teen love story, but it’s so much more. Gardner (Asa Butterfield) and Tulsa (Britt Robertson) somehow connect across millions of miles and a whole planet away. Thanks, internet.
You see, Gardner was born on Mars. Yes, the Red Planet. His mother died giving birth to him on the first mission to colonize Mars. He’s known less than 15 people his entire life. He comes to Earth, even though he knows it’s a risk to his health. He’s determined to meet Tulsa and find out who he really is.
He finally meets Tulsa face-to-face, and together they start out on a journey to find his father. In the process, they fall in love and Gardner discovers everything wonderful about Earth for the very first time. However, his heart physically can’t handle Earth’s gravity. His health deteriorates the longer he stays on Earth.
“You make me human,” Gardner says to Tulsa in the trailer. “No matter what happens. It was worth it.”
The movie is already giving us The Fault In Our Stars vibes mixed with The Martian. The Space Between Us is coming out around the same time as Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt’s Passengers, so the major movie theme of 2016 is definitely space. We’re not complaining. The Space Between Us also stars Carla Gugino and Gary Oldman. The movie will hit theaters on Dec. 16.
