Watch out, Matt Lauer! Ann Cury may have left NBC in 2015, but she’s reportedly a frontrunner to land one of the first Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie interviews after their shocking divorce. But why is she such a popular choice? Find out here.
Brad Pitt, 52, and Angelina Jolie, 41, have kept tight-lipped and out of the spotlight since their Sept. 19 divorce, but they’ll have to be back in the public eye eventually — and journalists are vying for the chance to get the first interview from either of them once they do! And even though Ann Curry left NBC News in Jan. 2015, she might actually be the lucky one to get the job.
“[She’s known to] have a very good relationship with both [stars],” an insider tells Page Six, adding that Angie “especially trusts her.” Ann has covered Angelina’s humanitarian efforts in the past, so they’ve formed a professional relationship that might just get the former Today show host the coveted gig. “Ann could take it anywhere she wanted,” the source adds. “Which is probably anywhere but NBC!”
The journalist didn’t leave NBC on the best terms, so if she does get an interview, it wouldn’t be surprising if she took it to another network or platform. Ann co-hosted Today with Matt Lauer for just one year before she was let go, and her exit reportedly went down after a bitter feud between the two — so it would definitely be some pretty sweet revenge to get a Brangelina interview.
Still, NBC’s Tom Brokaw is also probably in the mix: He has a great relationship with Angelina, and even conducted the pair’s last joint interview back in Nov. 2015. It’ll probably be quite some time before we see either of them in a public interview…but we cannot WAIT.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Ann would be a good person to get the first interview? Who would you choose?
