Lester Holt found out during the first presidential debate that Donald Trump lives in his own reality. After Donald claimed ‘stop and frisk’ was the best thing for NYC, Lester pointed out that the illegal tactic was ruled unconstitutional. Donald’s response? He said Lester was wrong!
“Stop and frisk was ruled unconstitutional in New York,” Lester, 57, said during the first meeting between Donald Trump, 70, and Hillary Clinton, 68, on Sept. 26. “It largely singled out black and Hispanic young men–“
“You’re wrong,” Donald interrupted. “It went before a judge – who was a very ‘against police judge.'” Donald then said that after this “very against-police judge” threw out “stop and frisk,” had Mayor Bill de Blasio, 55, fought the ruling, another judge would have found it perfectly legal.
Despite what Donald thinks, “stop and frisk” was deemed unconstitutional in 2013 after Manhattan Federal Court Judge Shira Sheindlin ruled that the policy was “a form of racial profiling,” according to the New York Daily News. 83% of the people stopped under the practice were black or Latino. Plus, since the NYPD has cut back on the practice, crime has fallen in New York City, despite Donald’s claims to the otherwise.

Stop and frisk "worked very well in New York," says Trump. Except… it was ruled unconstitutional and racially discriminatory. #debates

Lester probably knew that he was going to clash against Donald. Look how the former Celebrity Apprentice star treated Megyn Kelly, 45! It seemed that Trump’s biggest rival during the primary wasn’t Ted Cruz, 45, or Marco Rubio, 45, but the Fox News host. After Megyn clashed with Donald at the first Republican debate, Donald made his infamous comment about Megyn and ‘blood.” What resulted was a war of words that continued to escalate. It all came to a head with Donald ditching out on a Republican debate because Fox News wouldn’t pull Megyn as a moderator! Yikes.
Donald may better check himself before he starts attacking moderators. Ahead of the debate, Donald attacked Lester and called him a Democrat. However, Lester’s been a registered Republican in New York for over a decade, according to the Los Angeles Times. Whoops.
When MSNBC’s Morning Joe called out the Trump campaign on him spreading misinformation, campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, 49 said, “I don’t think [Donald] knew what Lester Holt’s registration was. A lie would be he knew the man’s party registration.” Huh. Looks like Donald was wrong — again.
What do you think about Lester’s performance as the debate’s moderation, HollywoodLifers? Do you think he was a good choice for the first presidential debate?
