Well, this is awkward. Back when he was promoting ‘The Tree Of Life’ in 2011, Brad Pitt made a joke about being abusive to his children — and now, with new shocking child abuse allegations being made against him, it’s become quite concerning. See what he said here.
In The Tree Of Life, Brad Pitt, 52, plays a strict father who often loses his temper around his children…and when he was promoting the film at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2011, he was asked by reporters if he’s anything like his character in real life.
“I beat my kids regularly,” Brad joked at the time. “It seems to do the trick. And I deprive them of meals.” Obviously, the actor was just making a joke at the seemingly ridiculous question, but now, five years later, the comment has come to light again as it’s been alleged that he has acted abusive toward his children.
The shocking claims were made following Brad’s split from Angelina Jolie, 41, in which she asked for full physical custody of the pair’s six children. She reportedly made her decision to file papers after a scary fight on a private plane with her then-husband on Sept. 14, during which he allegedly got verbally and physically abusive with their oldest son, Maddox, 15.
Those close to Brad confirm that a fight did escalate and get out of hand, and even admitted that the 52-year-old “put his hands on” his son. However, they’ve also insisted that Brad was never physical with Maddox or any of his other children — so it looks like we have a long custody battle ahead of us between him and Angelina. Yikes!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of this joke Brad made a few years ago? Do you think it’s being blown out of proportion — or is it really concerning?
