Now that was epic! Seth Rollins challenged Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Title at WWE’s ‘Clash of Champions’ on Sept. 25. But there was plenty of other excitement throughout the whole event that brought big wins and big drama. Get all the results right here!
The Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana was barely standing after the first Raw exclusive WWE Network show. If Jim Ross, 64, was still on commentary, he would have definitely called the battle between Seth Rollins, 30, and Kevin Owens, 32, a “slobberknocker.” After exchanging some amazing back and forth action, Seth somehow made it through getting the best of right until the bitter end.
When it seemed that Seth had a chance to dethrone Kevin, Chris Jericho made a not so surprising appearance that turned everything upside down. Chris and Kevin teamed up and did everything to help out Kevin to get the win, Seth completely couldn’t deal with the overcoming odds and a ref that couldn’t count his pin on Kevin because he was knocked out. it basically led Kevin to find a second wind and pull out a pop-up powerbomb that ultimately took Seth down for good — and Kevin remains the WWE Universal Champion!
Kevin who won the WWE Universal Championship on the Aug. 29 episode of RAW when Triple H, 47, returned to first Pedigree Roman Reigns, 31, before turning on his protégé, Seth! After laying Seth out in the middle of the ring, Kevin covered Seth for the 1-2-3. Rollins wasn’t thrilled that his former mentor betrayed him and sought revenge (and his title) at Clash of Champions. Unfortunately for Seth, Kevin Owens pinned him again!
Kevin’s title wasn’t the only one up for grabs during the amazing event. Rusev, 30, fought Roman Reigns in a war for the United States Championship. Toward the end of a nearly 30-minute bout, Roman hit Rusev with a Driveby Kick, but then Rusev fired back with the Accolade. But Roman quickly bounced back with a spear that gave him the 1-2-3 and the WWE US Championship!
The New Day — aka Xavier Woods, 30, Kofi Kingston, 35 and Big E, 30 — met their rivals, The Club (Luke Gallows, 32, and Karl Anderson, 36) for the WWE Tag Team championships. Xavier nailed Karl with his trombone, named Francesca, which ultimately led to the New Day retaining the titles!
While those matches were exciting, most of the WWE Universe wanted to see the epic Triple Threat match between Charlotte, 30, Sasha Banks, 24 and Bayley, 27. Sasha lost the WWE Raw Women’s Championship to Charlotte at SummerSlam. Many thought they’d seen the last of “The Boss,” but she returned to demand a rematch! Unfortunately, her NXT rival Bayley also wanted a shot at Charlotte’s title. So why not have all three fight at the same time? The girls duked it out, but Charlotte proved victorious once again by big booting Bayley into Sasha then pinning Bayley after another big boot for the win. Talk about a way to stake your claim!
The event also saw Cesaro, 35, and Sheamus, 38, finish off their “Best Of Seven” match series. After being tied at 3 wins apiece, this deciding fall would determine which of these men was the better Superstar. Sadly, the WWE Universe was denied an answer, as after a brutal back-and-forth match, Sheamus landed poorly after taking a clothesline over the barricade. The WWE medical officials said the Irish brawler was unable to continue the match so it was thrown out!
