Finally! Eminem is back with new music! The rapper teamed up with Skylar Grey for their latest jam, ‘Kill For You,’ and it is seriously out of this world! Listen here.
Eminem, 43, is back on Skylar Grey’s, 30, soaring jam! The singer-songwriter recently dropped her single featuring the rapper on Sept. 22, and we’ve been playing it on repeat ever since!
The dark song, which was produced by Eminem, was actually inspired by the infamous crime couple, Bonnie and Clyde, according to Rolling Stone. The couple’s influence definitely becomes clear after the single’s opening skit, which features sounds of a car door closing, gun shots, and an alarm sounding off. And as the song progresses, Skylar takes a vow to protect her lover at all costs. “In my eyes, even if you are wrong, you are right / Even if there is a terrible crime / It’s alright, cause I got your back, and I know you got mine,” she sings. SO good!
But while the vocalist swears she will protect him by any means necessary, Eminem seems a bit more manipulative. “You always ride / Whatever the plan is / To the end / Even if I led us into an ambush / Even if we robbed the First National and cops caught us redhanded,” he raps. Whoa, this sounds really intense!
Skylar recently revealed that the song was originally a solo track, but once she nailed the concept, she thought it may be more impactful as a duet. “Since the first day I started writing ‘Kill for You,’ I thought the Bonnie and Clyde message would be more powerful as a duet,” the singer told Rolling Stone. “I was stoked when Marshall put a verse on it.” We are so glad she asked Eminem to be the Clyde to her Bonnie!
This isn’t the first time Skylar and Eminem have collaborated though. The partners have also shared co-writing credits on all three versions of Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” record, and she was featured alongside the rapper on Dr. Dre’s, 51, “I Need a Doctor,” and Eminem’s single, “A**hole”.” So it only seemed right for Skylar to ask her longtime friend to hop on her song!
“Kill For You” is coming from Skylar’s new album, Natural Causes, which dropped on Sept. 23, the same day her fall tour kicks off in San Francisco.
