This is ‘One Voice’ you didn’t think you’d hear on ‘The Voice.’ Billy Gilman, who became a country star, at 12 when his huge song hit the country charts, is back at it — this time trying to turn four chairs in front of him; so, who will he get?
Billy Gilman is back! The Voice just revealed a sneak peak of the singer, now 28, singing Adele‘s “When We Were Young” for the judges — and actually turning all four chairs. Adam Levine was first, followed by Miley Cyrus then both Blake Shelton and Alicia Keys turned right before the end, causing him to get choked up!
“I started out as a young country artist and had great success,” Billy, a Grammy-nominated singer, told the judges. “To finally be here in a moment where I can finally sing the way I so badly wanted to even then, and to finally stand here and be amongst you, it truthfully is such an honor.”
“I know Billy!” Blake said, making the other judges nervous. “When I was making my first album, that’s when ‘One Voice’ came out. It’s crazy, Billy, because you always wonder whatever happened to somebody. Now you’ve found your sound and where you belong musically. I’m happy for you, man.”
However, Miley knew him too — he opened for her DAD on tour — so she stood up and let him know, “I know who the hell you are! Let me take care of you.” She also pointed out that they had a lot in common, and gave quite the convincing speech.
“You found this nice balance of having these rifts and what I call these yodel things, but without overdoing it and distracting form the song,” she told him. “I was totally impressed and I’d love to help you now become the new Billy, because I had to make that decision, and I know how I want people to see me and I’m very clear about that. So I would love to help you be clear to people about who you are.”
So, who do you think he’ll pick? You can watch his audition on Tuesday’s episode at 8PM on NBC.
