Monique Lhuillier has a knack for creating feminine looks that are favorites among the celeb set — and there was no shortage of her signature glamour in her Spring 2017 collection, which she debuted on Sept. 13 during New York Fashion Week. From sleek separates to pastel fur, ball gowns and sheer illusion detailing, the collection featured all of her hallmarks. 20 years ago, the designer launched her career with her bridal collection before expanding into ready-to-wear six years later — and for the Spring 2017 show she headed back in time, drawing inspiration from her previous collections. Her ability to create beautiful dresses that women love to wear is a testament to her success as a designer — and her Spring 2017 collection was no exception.
Celebrities Take New York Fashion Week By Storm — On The Red Carpet & The Runway
From the sweet and chic strapless cocktail dresses to the vampy feathered frocks, the collection featured a slew of dresses that could easily go right from the runway to the red carpet. Everything about the collection felt whimsical and airy, as if pretty young things could suit up in the silhouettes and float in and out of parties. Even a cropped fur coat stayed true to the light, whimsical vibe, thanks to its lavender hue. As always, Monique’s designs included a slew of chiffon, tulle and Chantilly lace.
Everyone from First Lady Michelle Obama, Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Banks have donned the designer for various occasions. There was a white gown that seemed perfect for Julianne Hough while a heart-adorned dress looked like it was made for Elle Fanning — we can envision so many famous faces in her latest line and can’t wait to see who becomes the first to rock one of the dreamy dresses.
