It’s a bittersweet day for Bobby Brown and his family, as it was just ruled that Nick Gordon is ‘legally responsible’ in Bobbi Kristina Brown’s tragic death. While this doesn’t bring Bobbi Kristina back, it certainly gives the family a bit of justice. Read Bobby’s full statement here!
“I am pleased with the outcome of today’s court proceedings,” Bobby Brown, 47, told PEOPLE in a statement, following the ruling. “All I ever wanted was answers relating to who and what caused my daughter’s death. Today’s judgment tells me it was Nick Gordon. Now I need to process all the emotions I have and lean on God to get me and my family through this.”
As we previously told you, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled on Sep. 16 that Nick Gordon is civilly liable in Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death, after he failed to appear in court for the second time.
“In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown,” Bobby Brown’s estate attorney R. David Ware said outside of court during a press conference. “The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon’s answer that he is legally responsible for her death. The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that.”
Now, Judge Bedford will determine the amount of damages that will be awarded to Brown’s estate. The family’s lawsuit asked for $50 million.
As you’ll recall, Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious in the bathtub of her home in January 2015. She died in July 2015, after being in a coma for six months. Nick has continuously denied having any involvement in his girlfriend’s death. He hasn’t been charged, but because he failed to appear in court twice during proceedings, he’s now held “legally responsible.”
