WOW! There are new reports about Ryan Lochte’s ‘DWTS’ debacle and things may be heating up even more! The protesters allegedly think their relative was a target for cops because of Ryan! However, their family member was apparently selling fake tickets in Rio! Get the reported forgery details, and hear the surprising reaction from Ryan’s team about the new claims!
When angry protestors rushed the DWTS stage Sept. 12, many assumed it was because of “Lochtegate,” where the swimmer was involved in a lying scandal during the 2016 Rio Olympics. However, there is apparently more to the story. The reported real reason they crashed the show was because a family member of theirs was apparently arrested in Rio and they’re trying to blame the swimmer for the whole situation, TMZ reports. According to Brazilian reports, Justin Sotoodeh McNeil, the nephew and cousin of the stage rushers, was allegedly caught selling fake tickets to match for Team USA Beach Volleyball just three days before Ryan claimed he was held at gunpoint!
The site reports that cops revealed that Justin had “51 tickets and a fake ID.” TMZ says, according to authorities he was “arrested and indicted for embezzlement and document forgery.” Justin is reported to be out of police custody but they are apparently holding his passport until he “meets a list of requirements” one of which includes “paying a $264 fine.”
Justin’s family supposedly believes he didn’t do anything wrong, and sources close to the family of protestors reportedly told TMZ that they think “Lochtegate made Justin and other Americans” a bullseye for police. However, the site claims Ryan’s camp thinks it’s “laughable” that the family is pointing the finger at him, when their relative was caught for a “felony,” as well as the consequences from the Dancing debacle.
Ryan has had quite the eventful week. His show debut didn’t go as planned, and he was hurt when the protestors crashed the DWTS set. His partner, Cheryl Burke, 32, revealed that he “did injure his ankle a little when the protester got tackled, so we’ll have to see how our first rehearsal goes,” in her blog for People magazine. Hopefully Ryan will be ok for the next show!
Aside from the media firestorm and backlash from his Rio drama, the Olympic gold medalist has a great support system. Along with his dance partner and his supportive family, he’s got romantic comfort as well. Ryan finally confirmed he and Playboy playmate Kayla Rae Reid, 25, are officially in a relationship. In an Instagram message post he thanked her and his other close supporters after the incident. Back in August 2016, he denied having a girlfriend, so this was a shock to some. We’re glad Ryan is finally starting to get back on track!
