This is unbelievably devastating. NASCAR driver Robby Gordon’s parents were found dead in their California home on Sept. 14, and the Orange Police Department says that murder-suicide is a possibility. Get all of the heartbreaking details right here.
What awful news. Robby Gordon‘s father, ‘Baja Bob’ Gordon, and stepmom Sharon were found dead on the evening of Sept. 14 after what investigators say could be a murder-suicide. Lt. Fred Lopez of the Orange Police Department told the Orange County Register that a double suicide is another possibility that is being investigated. He told the outlet that a rifle was found inside the home, though he did not say if it was a factor in the deaths. No other guns or drugs were found.
The bodies were discovered when a neighbor went to check on the couple after they didn’t answer multiple phone calls, according to Lopez. The neighbor then found them upstairs and called 911. Lopez added that the cause of deaths have not been officially determined, and police don’t think there are suspects.
In an official press release, the Orange PD said that around 5pm, “We received a 9-1- 1 phone call. The caller stated they were at a residence in the 1400 block of North Kennymead Street and there were two deceased bodies inside of the home. Upon arrival, members of the Orange Police Department discovered a male/White, 68 years of age, and a female/White, 57 years of age, both deceased. The cause of death is yet to be determined. A weapon was discovered inside of the residence. The names are being withheld pending notifications to the family.”
Robby gave a press conference on Sept. 15, breaking down in tears as he discussed his father’s death. “I grew up on this property my whole life. I learned everything about motor sports here,” he said. “[My father] taught so many and I want everyone to know what a good man he was,” the NASCAR star added.
“I’d like everybody to understand this is very tough. It’s not only tough for me but tough for my sisters…and my sister that is Sharon’s daughter, Haylee.” Finally, he vowed to get to the bottom of his father and stepmother’s deaths: “The truth will come out.” Our hearts go out to Robby and his sisters.
