Lupita Nyong’o, 33, headed to her hometown of Kenya, Africa for the October cover issue of ‘VOGUE,’ and she looked absolutely flawless in a slew of bright and bold colorful looks from this season’s hottest new collections. Not only does she look stunning on the cover, she looks even better in the photos from the spread in colorful dresses and fringe. We’re obsessed with this issue — are you?
Lupita took VOGUE to her hometown of Kenya, where she showed them what her culture is all about. Lupita looked flawless on the cover wearing a Chanel dress and Cathy Waterman earrings. She also danced in a stunning rainbow colored Roberto Cavalli fringe dress, visited Lake Victoria in a stunning Chloe painted dress, and so much more!
Aside from Lupita looking gorgeous in all of her different outfits, she also spoke about her new, highly anticipated film, Queen of Katwe. Lupita compared her life to the lives of the characters in the film, saying, “Phiona keeps going up against her mother and is unable to achieve her potential until her mother comes on board in a little way, even just buying the kerosene that allows Phiona to read. You see how you can hinder your children, not because you mean to, but because you have a limited view.”
She also described her life, “There are certain cards that have been dealt me that I take on. I want to create opportunities for other people of color because I’m fortunate enough to have a platform to do that. That is why Eclipsed and even Queen of Katwe are so important, to change the narrative, offer a new lens on African identity.”
We love Lupita so much and we are so happy that we got to see a personal side of her life that we’ve never seen before! What do you guys think of her gorgeous cover — do you love it as much as we do?
