This is so sad. Actress Kim McGuire, who was best known for her role in the 1990 film ‘Cry-Baby’ with Johnny Depp, passed away on Sept. 14, after being admitted to the hospital. Get the details here.
Kim sadly lost her battle to pneumonia after being admitted into a hospital in Florida on Sept. 13, the actress’s husband, Gene Piotrowsky told TMZ. Her husband confirmed that upon her admission, doctors discovered Kim had pneumonia and immediately put her in the ICU. Despite their best efforts, Kim unfortunately didn’t take well to the treatment and went into cardiac arrest twice, before passing away the following day. She was 60 years old at the time of her death.
Kim first rose to stardom after she was cast as Mona “Hatchet-Face” Malnorowski in the 90s comedy film Cry-Baby, alongside Johnny Depp, 53. Hatchet-Face was a member of Johnny’s delinquent entourage, and was best known for her grotesque attitude and unusual facial expressions. One of her most memorable scenes in the film features Hatchet-Face and the gang threatening an old lady with a butcher knife.
Kim’s husband shared his final words after she passed on Sept. 14. “Today is a very sad day. Kim ‘hatchet face’ McGuire my best friend, and the love of my life past away this afternoon. I love you so much,” he said. This is devastating. Many fans followed Gene’s lead, sharing sweet pics and words about the actress after hearing of her passing. “Rest in Peace, Kim McGuire. Hatchet Face was an inspiring and empowering performance for so many,” one fan tweeted.
Additionally, some fans worked together to start a GoFundMe account for Kim’s husband during the difficult time. “I am at a loss for words as to what Gene is currently feeling. The last thing on his mind should be money. Everyone who came in contact with Kim couldn’t help but smile. Please help pass this optimism on in Kim’s legacy. Anything will help,” the description on the account read.
Kim had no children, and is survived by her husband. Our hearts go out to Kim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
