We totally weren’t expecting this! Ariana Grande dropped a new song, ‘Knew Better part Two,’ out of nowhere on Sept. 15, and she seems to give her new boyfriend, Mac Miller, a REALLY sweet shoutout in the second verse. Listen here!
Ariana Grande, 23, took to Twitter to release the Soundcloud version of the song, telling fans, “Spent all of last night working on something y’all have been wanting for a long time and I can’t wait to give it to you.” She then shared the link to “Knew Better Part Two,” and added, “I love you.”
The song is a sequel to “Knew Better/Forever Boy” from the deluxe version of Dangerous Woman, and is about a guy who lost Ariana because he didn’t treat her right. The beginning and chorus are actually the same as her original song, but she added more to it, rather than transitioning to “Forever Boy,” like the first time around. This time, after slamming the ex, she sings about moving on with someone new.
“Got some new shoes just to go with my new boo, lovin’ me like you used to, and I ain’t even worried about it this time, I know he gonna be the one to treat me just right, never had a motherf***er this tight, so baby this is what your soulmate looks like,” she croons. Considering she claims to have just worked on this last night, it definitely seems like she’s talking about Mac Miller, 24, right?!
Interestingly, when Dangerous Woman came out earlier this year, many fans speculated that “Knew Better” part one was about her breakup from Big Sean, but since the album release, she’s had another breakup — from Ricky Alvarez! Perhaps this sequel is a way for her to call out that split…and prove she’s moved on?!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Ariana’s new song?
