Season six of ‘American Horror Story’ is going to be EPIC. Following months of false advertisements and misleading clues, the theme for the highly-anticipated new season was finally revealed during the season six premiere on Sept. 14!
And the theme is . . . “My Roanoke Nightmare.” The premiere was also labeled “Chapter 1,” so it’s possible each week would be different reenactments? There was also no opening credits, which may be telling in itself — could each week be a standalone true crime story with reenactments?
Ryan Murphy is really good at keeping secrets, so we wouldn’t put anything past him. He even intro’d the premiere, and proved that no, none of us had it figured out. (We did attempt to break it down here and linked it to season one, though.)
We previously found out that by releasing multiple, and by multiple, I mean double digits, trailers, it was a way to throw off fans a bit. In reality, only one was real. “We think it will be fun for the audience to have a surprise this year,” FX CEO John Landgraf said. Alright, so it was a little fun but it was also torture.
Throughout the past couple months, we’ve seen everything in the promos — spiders, dolls, a mobile filled with knives and a chainsaw, the works. However, there have been some hints that led people to believe one way or another. Needless to say, one thing we did love was the “Anthology” promo that linked all six seasons together.
With Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Angela Bassett all confirmed to return, and Cuba Gooding Jr. officially returning for this season, we would absolutely love to see some sort of tie in to one of the past seasons — Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, or Hotel.
