Oh no! Apparently the attack on Ryan Lochte wasn’t that harmless — the Olympic swimmer actually hurt his ankle during the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ incident, his partner, Cheryl Burke just revealed. So, is he okay?
During the premiere of DWTS, two men rushed the stage with anti-Ryan Lochte shirts on, causing security to run onto the floor during the live show and tackle them. We could see on TV, plus in later unseen footage, that both Ryan and Cheryl Burke were visibly shaken up.
“We have a quickstep this week and Ryan did injure his ankle a little when the protester got tackled, so we’ll have to see how our first rehearsal goes,” his partner, Cheryl said in her blog for People magazine. “But at the end of the day, we are all just so grateful that no one was more seriously injured.”
Of course, we’re not sure how he injured his ankle as we see in every angle that he really just moved out of the way, and behind Cheryl, when the security guard tackled the protester. However, it’s pretty easy to twist an ankle.
However, Cheryl made it clear that Ryan was not going to let this ruin the experience and she was there to support him every step of the way. “I know it will probably take us a few weeks to put this incident behind us, but I know Ryan wants to move forward and he’s not going to let this bring him down,” she wrote, also adding that she went over to his mother and family after the show, and they kept apologizing to her. “I told them, ‘You all need to stop apologizing to me. Ryan is a great guy and I have his back 100 percent, so let’s all keep moving forward and our heads up.’ And we are definitely moving forward.”
HollywoodLifers, do you think he’ll dance this week?
