Everyone remembers the bombshell that Nick Viall dropped after his first time on ‘The Bachelorette.’ During the live after show, he asked Andi Dorfman, in front of the world, why she slept with him if she wasn’t going to chose him — and now, he admits he does have some regrets.
“I regret that in the sense that it unnecessarily and unfairly caused Andi [Dorfman] to get a lot of flack,” the new bachelor, Nick Viall, 35, told People magazine. “I wasn’t trying to accomplish that. Women have as much right as men to do whatever they want behind closed doors.”
However, he did reveal that some good has come out of it — and that things on the show have since changed.
“I don’t think sex should be taboo or anything to be ashamed of. The more people talk about it and are tolerant, the better,” he said. Of course, he’s gotten a ton of backlash for sleeping with Andi, then also sleeping with Kailtyn Bristowe, but he defends both — he really cared about them both, and finds it “frustrating” that people don’t understand that.
“By a lot of people’s opinions, I’m slutty or a man whore simply because of those two things. It’s a little silly. I’m no saint, but that’s not who I am,” he added. “I’m an open book so I don’t mind the fact that it’s out there. People are well aware of the fact that Andi and I slept together, as well Kaitlyn and I, but I slept with two women that at the time I felt deeply for and thought there was a good chance I could end up with.”
In 2014 after Andi’s season, he revealed in an interview that even he was surprised by his reveal on After the Final Rose.
“I was surprised as anyone that it came out of my mouth, I suppose. If I had anticipated it, I maybe could’ve been a little bit delicate. But that was something that was weighing on my mind,” he told Access Hollywood at the time. “I really wish I would’ve had an opportunity in private, but we were in an extraordinary situation.”
So, do you think Nick will have an easy time finding love on The Bachelor?
