The Trump Foundation is under scrutiny — and the NY Attorney General is now involved! Eric Schneiderman confirmed that his office is looking into Donald Trump’s charitable foundation after concerns were raised about its impropriety.
“We have been concerned that the Trump Foundation may have engaged in some impropriety,” Eric Schneiderman told CNN. “We’ve inquired into it and we’ve had correspondence with them. I didn’t make a big deal out of it or hold a press conference. We have been looking into the Trump Foundation to make sure it’s complying with the laws governing charities in New York.”
The inquiry into Donald Trump’s charity reportedly began way back on June 9, according to NBC News. The wrongdoing in question involves a $25,000 donation made by the Trump Foundation to “And Justice For All” in Sept. 2013. The group is connected to Florida’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and nonprofit organizations like Trump’s are not allowed to make contributions that are politically related. The Trump Foundation has also been accused of never sending donations to four different charities, and using $20,000 to pay for a six-foot portrait of the presidential candidate.
Obviously, Donald isn’t thrilled about all this, and in a statement via his campaign spokesman, Jason Miller, he called it a “left-wing hit job.” He also referred to the NY Attorney General as a “partisan hack who has turned a blind eye to the Clinton Foundation for years and has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.”
President Barack Obama addressed the issue during a campaign stop in Philadelphia on Sept. 13, pointing out the differences between Donald and Hillary’s charities. “One candidate’s family foundation has saved countries around the world,” he said, of Hillary. “The other candidate’s foundation took money other people gave to his charity and then bought a 6-foot tall painting of himself. I mean, he had the taste not to go for the ten-foot version.” LOL!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of the Attorney General looking into Donald’s foundation?
