Aly Raisman ditched her top knot for long, glamorous waves! The Olympic gold medalist looked stunning as she attended New York Fashion Week with classic curls and natural makeup. Get her stylist’s exact how-to, ahead, and let us know what you think.
We’re so used to seeing Aly Raisman in her gymnastics leo and top knot that we hardly recognized the Olympic champ as she attended New York Fashion Week. After attending the Jeremy Scott show with a pretty pink makeup look she did herself and a braided updo by Olympic teammate and bestie Simone Biles, the 22-year-old switched up her beauty look.
Sitting front row at the Sherri Hill show with Simone, Aly opted to wear her long brunette locks loose, styled in soft curls. Creating her fashion week-ready look was Matrix Celebrity Stylist George Papanikolas (he also does Hailey Baldwin’s hair), who gave us the whole how-to.
1) Starting on damp hair, George applied the Matrix Style Link Volume Builder Mousse through Aly’s hair before rough blow drying.
2) Once her hair was completely dry, George used a one-inch iron and curled sections of Aly’s hair away from her face. After the curls had cooled, George broke up the uniform look by running his fingers through her hair for a softer finish.
3) Creating a deep side part, George sprayed Matrix Style Link Play Back Dry Shampoo at Aly’s roots for even more volume.
4) To finish the look, George used bobby pins to pin the thinner side of Aly’s hair back and set the look with Matrix Style Link Style Fixer Finishing Hairspray.
