Who’s ready for Halloween? Yandy had their FIRST runway show at NYFW, Sept. 9, and debuted their Halloween 2016 collection! With a variety of sexy looks, the lingerie brand showed off epic costumes, including Donald Trump, emojis, sultry witches and SO much more! Check out their whole collection here!
New York Fashion Week is different every season, and every year. However, fashion fiends and style fanatics were treated to a diverse dose of sexy Halloween costumes by Yandy this year! In their FIRST fashion week runway show ever, the lingerie brand debuted 39 colorful, sultry costumes for their 2016 spooky collection and HollywoodLife.com was front row for all of the action!
The show opened with Michael Jackson‘s “Thriller” to start the runway soundtrack, and it was a perfect fit for the occasion none. Out walked none other than a Snapchat costume, “Selfie Socialite,” which we loved. The costume came equipped with a model holding a cell phone, and she snapped a selfie. Decked out in the actual “dog” filter from the popular app, she wore a tight, yellow cropped t-shirt, with the Snapchat logo on the front. Her matching cheerleader skirt was covered with black spots, and we thought it was the best opener!
Next came the popular “poop” emoji. The look contained a simple brown leotard and the crowd had a playful laugh. The smiley-faced emoji with the heart eyes followed. It was again, a simple yellow leotard with a halter top. Two heart-eyed emojis covered the breasts of the costume. It was adorable!
But, it was the show’s last two costumes that got the crowd really riled up. Costume number 38, named “Capitol Hill” hit the runway and heads turned instantly. The audience roared, as people all around said, “Is that Hillary Clinton?” — You be the judge. But, it definitely seemed to shed light on the Democratic nominee in a blue, suit-like ensemble. You can’t bring out Hillary, 68, without her political opponent, though. To close the show, costume number 39 was “Donna T. Rumpshaker.” In blue hot pants, a tight matching, cropped blazer, white undershirt and a red tie, a very animated model walked the runway as Donald Trump, 70. The crowd went nuts as she rocked a short blond wig with his signature red hat that read, “Make America Great”.
Clearly inspired by today’s news and trends, the collection also included, “Miss Almost Won” who was actually made to be Miss Columbia, Ariadna Gutierrez — The pageant contestant who was infamous mistaken to win Miss Universe 2015 when Steve Harvey, 59, pronounced the wrong name on the ballet card. Other notable costumes that we loved, were the “Golden Goddess Egyptian,” that had great jewel details and “Miss Witchcraft,” who sported our favorite, sexy leather.
When the show completed, HollywoodLife.com got to chat with the gorgeous and stylish, Pilar Quintana, Vice President of Merchandising for an EXCLUSIVE interview, where she told us everything about the new collection. She designed the creative pieces for the Halloween 2016 show, and told us her inspiration was “pop culture.” As for the Presidential pieces, she said, “Obviously politics is influencing us right now, and just social media in general.” However, she credits a very popular celeb for part of her inspiration as well. “Tell Kanye we’re competing with him,” she joked, then gushed how she is a big fan of his.
All in all, we loved the collection! It was fun, vibrant, full of high energy and super creative. Pilar told us that all of the costumes are available on Yandy’s official website for purchase. The pop culture pieces, (Hillary and the emojis), will arrive soon, but you’re in luck if you want the Donald-inspired look. It may be a bit early, but Happy Halloween!
