1. She started as an actor before she was a singer.
In 2002, Jana Kramer made her acting debut in an independent film, and followed that up the next year with a spot on All My Children. While she’s starred on multiple TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy and CSI, she landed a starring role on season seven of The CW’s One Tree Hill; on the show, she also got to sing.
2. She signed a recording contract in 2011.
Her song “I won’t Give Up” premiered on One Tree Hill, and later hit the Billboard Hot 100 charts. She later also released “Whiskey” on the show, which would grow to be a huge hit. Her official debut single, “Why Ya Wanna,” came out in January 2012, and her debut album dropped in June. The following summer, she headed on Blake Shelton’s Ten Times Crazier tour.

3. She’s been married three times.
In 2004, Jana tied the knot with Michael Gambino in Las Vegas, but it only lasted a few months. In 2009, she got engaged to Johnathon Schaech and they married the following summer — OTH costars Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols were in attendance. However, they split a month later. In August 2014, Jana started dating Mike Caussin. They briefly split because he had cheated, but got back together and married in May 2015. They welcomed their first child in January 2016 — and in August, they split.
4. She’s hoping Dancing with the Stars will help her cope with her split.
She admitted on the premiere that she’s going through a tough time, so this is a good distraction. “I think this show will help me let my guard down,” she said on the Sept. 12 episode.
5. She speaks German!
Jana, 32, was born in Michigan but is French, Chilean, Croatian and German — and speaks some German!
