Sharon Osbourne, 63, is telling the world what really happened for the first time, when she took a monthlong hiatus from her co-host chair on the panel of her CBS daytime talk show. After public marriage troubles, and her husband, Ozzy’s cheating scandal, she said she had a “complete and utter breakdown.” Now admitting that she’s got “a good grip on the problem,” that she has, Sharon was ready to speak out about her battle with depression.
“It’s very weird when you suffer from a bad depression…I had a complete and utter breakdown. I woke up in Cedars-Sinai Hospital, and for probably three days, I knew nothing. I couldn’t think. I couldn’t talk…I could do nothing. My brain just shut down on me. And it’s hard enough surviving in this world anyway, but when you take on too much — I was doing too much of everything, thinking that I’m superwoman. I’m so strong. I can handle this. I can handle that. And it just fused — My brain just totally fused. And I just couldn’t cope with anything,” she said.
Sharon admitted that her family put her into a facility, where “they diagnose you; there’s therapists, psychiatrists and you do a lot of group therapy.” She added, “…It took me days before I could even speak. I didn’t want to speak. I didn’t want to eat. I didn’t want to talk to anyone, and I couldn’t keep thoughts in my head.”
After her time in the facility, Sharon is doing much better now. She told her fellow co-hosts why she was ready to tell her story. “…I am in control of the condition. It doesn’t control me,” she said. “If I could help somebody else along the way I would feel great to be able to give whatever advice, or just what I went through to help somebody else, so as they don’t feel like ashamed or anything like that.”
Sharon revealed on the August 3 episode of The Talk that Ozzy was attending “outpatient for sex addiction for the last three months.” That confession came after his mistress, Michelle Pugh, 45, revealed that Ozzy was “the greatest love of my life,” in a shocking tell-all interview. The two were involved in a secret affair for four years while he was still with Sharon. Following Michelle’s claims, Ozzy declared that the affair was only a result of his sex addiction and that it was not love. After the affair news went public, Ozzy and Sharon briefly split up. The couple soon reunited, and it seems like they are working on their marriage. She admitted to being “proud” that Ozzy has “admitted” to having a problem. She said on The Talk that “he’s working at it.”
We’re so glad to see Sharon is in a better place, and doing much better. It’s great to see her back in the co-hosting chair. We wish her nothing but the best as she continues to be strong!
