Hillary Clinton discussed her recent bout of pneumonia in a new interview, and let her supporters know how she was feeling. Her terrifying collapse on September 11 has been all the political world can talk about, and now Hillary’s revealing just why she didn’t let anyone know about her lung infection.
Hillary‘s bottom line? She really didn’t think anyone would care that she had pneumonia! You would think that she’d be right, but during this highly contentious presidential election, her every move and remark is scrutinized to the highest degree. For goodness sake, her coughing during a speech rang alarm bells!
During a phone interview on September 12 with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Hillary discussed her pneumonia diagnosis, and the shocking moment when she collapsed outside a September 11 remembrance event. She thought that coughing incident was due to allergies, but after visiting her doctor on Friday, September 9, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She told Anderson that she didn’t heed his advice to rest for five days, instead pushing through to continue campaigning, and paid the ultimate price.
“I’m feeling so much better,” Hillary said. “I just didn’t think it was going to be that big of deal (not revealing the diagnosis). Obviously I should have gotten some rest sooner — I probably would have been better off if I just pulled down my schedule on Friday, but like a lot of people, I thought that I could just keep going forward and power through it. And obviously that didn’t work out so well”
Hillary also pushed that she’s been way more transparent about her health than her political opponent, Donald Trump! “Compare everything you know about me with my opponent. I think it’s time he met the same level of disclosure that I have for years,” Hillary said. “It’s really past time for him to be held to the same standards, not just as me, but as anybody else who has sought this job.”
