Here we go again. Colin Kaepernick again continued his patriotic protest by kneeling during the National Anthem at the opening game of the season of NFL’s Monday Night Football. Keep reading for all the details on this hot topic.
During Monday night’s football game on Sept. 12, in Santa Clara, California, Colin Kaepernick was joined by fellow 49er teammate Eric Reid to take a knee while The Star Spangled Banner played in front of a sold-out crowd at Levi’s Stadium. Just one day after the 15 year anniversary of 9/11, Colin continued in what many football fans are calling a disgraceful protest.
Colin, however, has defended his stance. “I love America. I love people. That’s why I’m doing this. I want to help make America better,” he said in a preseason postgame press conference where he spoke with CNN. Colin began to quietly voice his displeasure with the country by taking a knee during preseason football games and was quickly joined by other football players and even other celebrities have followed with the political stand.
Seattle Seahawk Jeremy Lane has also protested, and rapper Chris Brown decided to join in and took a seat during the National Anthem at a charity basketball game. During the MNF game however, Colin was joined by TK and TK who shared Colin’s sentiments and felt that taking a knee was an OK way to let the world know they were not happy with things in America.
