Adam Driver is finally spilling some scoop on ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ — and it’s GOOD! The man we all know know as Kylo Ren compares the new movie to ‘The Empire Strikes Back.’ The movie has a much ‘different tone’ than ‘The Force Awakens.’
“It’s similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone,” Adam, 32, told Collider. “For that people always go ‘oooh, it’s dark’ but I don’t know that it necessarily is. It’s just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary but also very clear. He [director Rian Johnson] trusts [that] his audience is ready for nuance and ambiguity. He’s not dumbing anything down for someone and that’s really fun to play.”
The plot details of Star Wars: Episode VIII are being kept heavily under wraps, but Adam admits that the feeling on set is much more intense than the first. So that must mean the movie is more intense!
“The stakes are even higher, I think,” he continued. “No one’s relaxing. Well, I can’t speak for everyone, but I didn’t feel more relaxed as if we’d accomplished anything. It’s one more reason we have to redouble our efforts and just make it even more specific, but then you also have to let it all go and not think too much while you’re working on it.”
Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released on Dec. 15, 2017, with Daisy Ridley, 24, Oscar Isaac, 37, John Boyega, 24, Domhnall Gleeson, 33, Carrie Fisher, 59, Mark Hamill, 64, and more returning. If you’re worried that you’re not going to get your Star Wars fix in 2016, have no fear. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
