Miley Cyrus opened up in a new interview about her priorities in life right now, and they don’t include hitting up red carpet events. In fact, the singer and actress is completely against them altogether. Read on to find out why she’s so opposed.
Despite the fact that she’s one of the world’s biggest stars, and in a relationship with a high-profile actor, Miley Cyrus vowed to Elle magazine that she’s never doing a red carpet ever again. The Elle October 2016 cover star discussed her discomfort with attending lavish premiere events while there’s so many horrible things happening in the rest of the world:
“[A year ago] I had to do the [A Very Murray Christmas] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again,” Miley told Elle. “Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m ‘important’? Because I’m ‘famous’? That’s not how I roll. It’s like a skit—it’s like Zoolander.”
Only a chunk of the interview has been released thus far by the magazine, and it’s unclear what A Very Murray Christmas has to do with her decision to skip red carpets. Did something happen during the star-studded premiere? Or is she just citing it as the last red carpet she was required to attend? Miley’s felt this way for a long time.
She discussed the similarities between herself and her character on her new Amazon show, Crisis in Six Scenes: For a long time, I couldn’t sleep because I just felt so guilty. I was covered in rashes because I was so stressed. Even today, I dropped my water on my hike and felt like such an asshole. There are children being sold into sex slavery; how can I go on a hike right now?”
It will be interesting to see how this affects her relationship with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. Liam is an in-demand actor, and there are going to be tons of red carpets in his future. It looks like he’ll be attending them solo if Miley sticks to her word! The rest of her interview
